Kody's Carnival

It's Fun to be One!
I can't believe it has already been a year since Kody joined our family. Boy does time fly by so fast. We decided to throw our Kody bug a Carnival Birthday themed party. It was such a blast. All his cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and grandparents showed up. Each of the adults were Carnies. They were in charge of the games and the kids got to go around and play, darts, bean bag toss, basketball, knock over the cups, pick a duckie, tic-tac-toe, pin the nose on the clown, & ring toss. We also had a large bounce house for the kids to play in. We had all the food you would have at a carnival. For lunch we had hot dogs chips and juice. Then they also got fresh made popcorn and cotton candy. All the kids had a blast. Dustin dressed up as a clown and completed the party. Kody got lots of gifts and loves each and every one of them. When it came time for the cake Kody was so tired he didn't even want to eat it. He just kept crying. So we cleaned him up and let him take a nap. In the Montoya family they have a tradition on the first birthday. They put a book, a piece of bread, and a dollar in front of them. Which ever one they choose first is what is in store for their life. (Bread= they will never go hungry) (dollar= they will be wealthy) (book=they will be well educated) Kody pointed at the book. So after weeks of stressing over planning a party things came together very nicely. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make Kody's first birthday party a blast.

Front Butt

Ok this is seriously the funnest thing. Zak has recently found an old cabbage patch doll. He has been carrying it around and calling it his baby. I told him it was a little boy and he would need to think of a name that he wanted to call him. So as we are going through possible names he decides the baby needs a diaper change. He pulls down the diaper and says "Mommy this isn't a boy he has no peepee. It's a girl. She has a front butt." seriously front butt where did he get that. I couldn't stop laughing. So after much diliberation I coulnd't argue with him there was no peepee. So even though the doll is supposed to be a boy he has chosen the name Carly and it is a girl. He has even tried to breastfeed the baby doll. He said my babies hungary and put the doll up to his boob. LOL. Oh the joys of children.

Lots to catch up on.

Ok... I know I've been very bad about updating this. You would think that since I'm a stay at home mom (who raises 2 kids, works as a process server at night and has a house to keep on) would have plenty of time to update her blog........ however I am not perfect and lately most of my free time has been spent on facebook. (Yes i am addicted.) But a lot has happened since Dustin locked Zak in the car and gave us all a scare. (ok him more then me) Lets see where to start....Today Zak said the cutest thing. I took him to McDonalds cause that is his favorite place to eat. Its always Mommy I want McDonalds. Then he tells me exactly what he wants there. Anyways today he got a happy meal and it actually came in a box. Remember the boxes not just a bag? He had gotten his lunch and then fell asleep in his car seat so Nanna took the box and put it up front so it wouldn't spill. When he woke up he said " Mommy were is my box meal" Box meal.... what is he 90.

EASTER

ok back to important stuff. We had Easter. Zak had seen the Easter bunny at the mall and had said that he wanted a Thomas the Train set that had a waterfall. He kept calling it his waterfall. THEN he went to Toys R us and saw a power wheel he fell in love. He kept saying Mommy I need to tell the Easter Bunny that I don't want the waterfall I want the truck. So I make a trip back to Toys R Us when he is not with me to buy the truck and of course they are sold out. ARGH!!! you can imagine my frustration. This is what he really wanted. The Easter bunny couldn't let him down at 3! So I had them call the West Valley store sold out. The sugar house store Sold out..... the Layton store Sold out.... I was getting desperate. I asked if I could buy they floor model... of course not they don't work... what was I going to do.... I was told there were 2 more stores in UT.... Orem and St. George.. was I really going to have to drive to St. George to make this child's Easter. We called the Orem store... they didn't have any in but were getting 3 the next day. I asked if I could buy it at this store and find a way to pick it up and of course no. I asked if they would hold it until Friday (2 days later) so I could find someone to go with me to pick this thing up and they said no.... I told them I was desperate..... finally I got a manager ok to pick up on Friday morning. After finding someone to go with me (Thank you Dad) I couldn't find a babysitter so I had to take the boys to go with. I was praying the entire time that he would not see what I was getting and ruin his Easter. Thankfully he didn't. Easter eve Zak was still saying how he didn't get the chance to tell the Easter bunny he wanted the truck and was going to get the waterfall and how he really didn't want the waterfall any more. So sad I wish I could just tell him that he was getting it he was so heart broken. Easter morning came and he runs downstairs sees the truck and got so excited it was worth all the stress. He loves it... everyday its Mommy can I drive my truck to the park. Thank you Orem store, Dad, and Easter Bunny for making a 3 year olds Easter morning. So you ask what did Kody get. The Easter Bunny brought Kody a Wagon. And YES he loves it as much as Zak loves his power wheel.

THE PARK
We took them to the park Zak drove his power wheel and I pulled Kody in the wagon. They both sang the entire way there. Nothing better then hearing your child be happy and sing.

SWIMMING

We took the boys swimming at Dimple Dell Pool. First time going there was kinda cool. The only thing they were missing was a hot tub for Mom to warm up in. The boys had so much fun. Kody just layed floating on his back I guess it was so relaxing that he fell asleep. I couldn't decide if I should get him out and dry him off or keep him in the pool. Zak was to scared to play on the playground part of it. Didn't want to get water in his eyes. He used to love the water but this year he was acting weird so we decided to put him in swim lessons. Hopefully this will help before the start of boating season.

OOPS!

Parents watch what you say. I have a really bad habit of saying dumb a@# when someone does something really stupid...I know I should be calling myself that for what I've done. Well Zak called me it the other day. I had a talk with him that we don't say things like that. Well today he was singing it.... we told him that we don't say things like that and he was all "but that's my dumb a@# song" I didn't know if I should get upset at him or laugh.

We are trying to find a new place to live. Need something bigger we have just outgrown this place. So if you see anything let us know.

Little Drumer

Little Drummer Boy

I got Guitar Hero World Tour for my birthday. It came with a guitar, the game, a microphone, and a drum set. Instantly we knew who was going to be the drummer our little man Kody. He picked up the drum sticks and was hitting the drums in perfect unison. He has his own unique rhythm that is just so cute. Everyday he comes downstairs and finds the drum sticks and carries them around all day. Here is a few photos of him drumming as well as a video. Enjoy.

Parents Don't Try This!

The other day the worst thing that I have ever done happened....I managed to lock Zak in the car while it was running.......

I got to spend a day with just Zak and me. I took him to get our hair cuts, his looks so cute. We walked directly next door fromt he salon to get ice cream from Cold Stone, he picked out his mint ice cream with gummi bears all by himself. on the way back to the car I asked him if he wanted to call his mommy and tell her about his haircut and ice cream. I unlocked my car using the remote and started it, then turned the A/C on low (it was a warm day). I then called Kari and gave him the phone as I Buckled him in his car seat. I closed the door and walked around the car as he was excitingly tell his mom about the fun he was having with dad. I pulled the handle and found my door didn't open...funny I thought because i know if the passenger door unlocked using the remote then the driver's door should also be unlocked. I walked back to the passenger door to open it. That door too was locked! I did my best to stay calm to keep Zak calm aswell. I realized my phone is in the car and I can't call anyone for help. Zak tells me through the rear quarter window that his mom wants to talk to me and tries to give me the phone through the window. I told him that I couldn't get the phone because I can't get in the car...He got really mad at me for not taking the phone and throws it at the window and then to the floor. I asked him to see if he could unbuckle his car seat and open the door for me. He manges to unbuckle his upper buckle on his car seat, however due to the nature of car seats, he could not get the bottom buckle undone. Then he started freaking out cause he couldn't get out of his car seat. I did my best to get him to slide himself out of the belts. But once again one of the things a car seat was designed to due was keep a child in his seat. AARRGGHH!!! Someone came by and I explained to him what had happened. He let me use his phone to call the police. Just before the police arrived a man drove by and asked my if I needed my car unlocked, I of course said yes please. He opened a professional lock out kit, said he was a bouncer. The police arrived along with the fire department and attempted to unlock my car using a slim jim while the other man was using his kit. Meanwhile Zak had fallen asleep in his car seat. As the random bouncer man unlocked the car my wife shows up (she'd figured out where I was by Zak telling her about his haircut and ice cream). Worst Experience Ever!

I found out that my car will automatically lock itself after 2 minutes if the driver's door is not opened after unlocking with the remote. Smart feature if you accidently unlockyour car and not realize it, keep it safe. Not such a great feature if you don't realize that starting it and opening the passenger door does not disable this feature. PARENTS BEWARE.

Potty Trained.

Oh Happy Day. We think Zak is potty trained. He has gone 7 days wearing is big boy underwear and has only had 1 accident. And that was due to the fact he couldn't get his P.J.'s off fast enough. He even tells us when we are out in the car doing my job. I'm so proud of him. He almost has his 2nd sticker chart filled up so we will be taking another trip to the store to reward him. For his first sticker chart he wanted a Toby train. Every time he would use the potty he would say I did that for my Toby Train. But when we got to the store NO Toby Trains. He was so sad until we found him a dinosaur one. Now he want a remote control train. Good job buddy. Mom & Dad are so Proud of you.

Tantrum Three's I think Not

They say that once your child turns three they start throwing tantrums. Well you can't tell from these photos. Zak is such a poser. He even wanted to take his own photos. He kept trying to push the button. Kody turned 8 months and Zak turned 3 this month so here are the new photos. Hopefully Zak will be as sweet at these photos everyday and not throw any tantrums. ;) Who am I kidding he is three, a boy, full of energy, and has a little brother to help him out.

Titans

Even though the Titans didn't make it into the superbowl, Dustin and his boys still show that they are proud of the Titans for making it as far as they did. Maybe next year. Also Kody learned to crawl at 7 months.

Party Party

Zak turned 3 on valentines day and we celebrated by taking 10 of his friends to classic skating. He had so much fun. He had a little einsteins themed party and I made him a rocket cake. Here are a few photos of the fun event. Zak had so much fun. Thanks to all who helped us celebrate.

Diamond Ring

So I decided to enter the 97.1 ZHT Valentines Day Massacre to try and win a diamond ring. My sister-in-law Bernadette has done it 6 years and asked if I wanted to do it with her so I agreed. I went online and registered. The day before the event I got an email saying I could participate in the event. My sister-in-law never got an email so I almost didn't go. I didn't want to go by myself. But with a lot of push from my husband saying how fun it would be to dive into a cake with 96 other women and look for a ring I decided to go. So the D.J.'s counted down 1-2-3 go and all 97 women including me jumped into the cake. A lady behind me jumped on top of me and I couldn't move so I wiggled my way out, moved over a few spots reached my hand in grabbed some cake and started going threw it and would you believe there in my hand was a piece of paper that said Diamond Ring!!! I could not believe it. I just started jumping up and down and screaming. I won the 2ct diamond ring within 26 secs. I got to be on TV and the radio. I was told I was the fastest person to every find the ring.

Snow Day

Zak has been begging me to go out and play in the snow. Unfortunately he has a mother that hates the snow and cold weather. Well we finally bundled him and his brother up in all their wonderful snow gear. It takes longer to get them in and out of their winter garb then the time they actually spend outside. It almost makes it not worth it. But then you see how much fun they are having. Kody didn't like the snow, he cried the entire time until he fell asleep in it. I can't decide if he hated the snow like mom or if he was just tired. Zak and Dad however had a blast with a full on snow fight. They also built a snowman (or as Zak would say a "toe-man"). They had so much fun. Zak even wanted to keep a snowball so now I have a snowball in my freezer. Wonder how long I need to keep that in there?

Natural Born Bowler

So among Zakary's many talents we have found another one. He is a natural born bowler. We took him bowling with some of our friends and he did awesome. He totally understood the concept and got upset when he didn't knock over all 10 pins. Here are a few shots of us bowling as well as his score card and one of him upset. Notice his score. 92! crazy I know. Now I know he had some help with the bumpers and the guard rail but still he is only 2.

Bye Bye Baby Mullet

Ok I know Kody needed a haircut from the day he was born. I just couldn't part with his baby hair. Giving him a haircut means he is actually growing up. So here are some photos of his first haircut. He did really well. Didn't cry or anything. Just sat there and let the lady cut his hair.
And here is the final look. Ohhh so big.

Our little photographer.

Zak has become quite the good photographer. He got a camera for Christmas and has insisted on carrying it every were with him. He takes photos of everything. He not only takes the one photo but he moves the object and moves the camera around for a better shot. He has taken over 800 photos since Christmas and loves looking at his work on the computer when he is done. Here are a couple of the shots from him. The first one he was taking a photo of Dad opening up a Christmas present but got so excited when he saw Santa on the box that he took a picture of the box. 2. He loves taking pictures of Kody. He'll do something to get his attention and then take the photo just like at the photo studio. 3. His toys. I don't know how many pictures we have of his toys but this was the first one he did. He took over 50 pictures of this airplane that night. He took them with the airplane in the hanger outside the hanger, next to the hanger, with the camera on the floor, with it on the chair, up top. What a little creator.
